Cyclotron and PET in Medicine Project

Application for Medical Care
Cyclotron and PET in Medicine

The objectives of this project are
- Improvement of diagnostic technique for nuclear medicine in Asian countries.
- Early detection with advanced technology contributes to human health in Asia.

Positron Emission Tomography (PET), using of 18F-FDG, is useful for several cases of cancer diagnosis such as detection of early cancer, staging of the cancer, evaluation of the efficacy of ther apy and getting information about recurrence and prognosis.
Computed Tomography (CT), using X-ray, shows an image of anatomy, while PET shows an image of physiology and metabolism.

Following three aspects are to be studied in this project.
- Diagnosis
- Pharmaceuticals
- Instrumentation
Equipment for Clinical PET Imaging
Self-shielded
Baby Cyclotron
FDG synthesis system
