Vol. 1 Quantification of beneficial
microbes in biofertilizer |
Vol. 2 Production of Biofertilizer
Carrier using Radiation Technology |
FNCA Guideline for Biofertilizer Quality Assurance and Control is one of the outputsof FNCA Biofertilizer Project. It was edited by project members and other experts from nine countries, Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mongolia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. “Vol. 1 Quantification of beneficial microbes in biofertilizer" was published March 2014 and “Vol. 2 Production of Biofertilizer Carrier using Radiation Technology" was published March 2018 respectively.
Vol. 1 has following contents: introduction (chapter 1), basic common techniques for microbial count (chapter 2 to 3), and quantification methods for different kinds of microbes, including rhizobia, nitrogen-fixing bacteria, arbuscular mycorrhiza and phosphate and potassium-solubilizing microbes (chapter 4 to 10).
This guideline is expected to be a good reference for the governmental or quasi-governmental organization which conducts the quality check of biofertilizer. This guideline can be also a standard method for microbial count in biofertilizer when biofertilizer companies register their products and sell them to the public market.
Vol. 2 has following contents: sterilization of carrier for biofertilizer (part 1), methods for selection and preparation of carrier (part 2), methods for sterilization of carrier using gamma irradiation (part 3), and methods for inoculation of biofertilizer (part 4).
This guideline explains that quality of biofertilizer is improved to have longer shelf-life by radiation sterilization, and it is expected to be a good reference for the companies and organization involved in development, production and sales of biofertilizers.
The guidelines are able to be downloaded from following.
It is desired that they would contribute to improve the quality and disseminate biofertilizer and enhance environmental friendly sustainable agriculture by reducing excessive amount of chemical fertilizer application.
Please feel free to contact FNCA for enquiries on the guideline.
